Saving energy with Internet of Things

HBI Bisscheroux bv from Geleen and Four IQ from Veldhoven will combine their knowledge and skills to develop a smart and affordable building management system based on Internet of Things (IoT). This system uses wireless sensors and devices as well as the data collected with them.

Traditional building management systems are large and cumbersome and mainly use wired infrastructures with complex control technology. This makes these installations labour-intensive and expensive. With the development of a light and smart building management system based on IoT, the initiators want to make it affordable for medium-sized and small buildings too to get their energy management and indoor climate in order. This is badly needed to combat the effects of the energy crisis and the corona pandemic.

HBI Bisscheroux owns the IoT platform Sqippa Online, which is capable of processing and storing large amounts of data coming from all kinds of wireless sensors and devices.

FourIQ has extensive experience in creating dashboards, providing insight into energy consumption and controlling heating, cooling and ventilation in a building.

In the first phase, Sqippa Online will be enriched with a calendar. This calendar ensures that heating radiators are automatically dimmed back and energy guzzlers such as boilers are switched off as soon as a building or part of it is no longer in use. This saves unnecessary energy costs.

In the second phase, using data collected by sensors, energy management and indoor climate will be further optimised.

On 16 August 2022, Fons Bisscheroux, director of HBI Bisscheroux and Timo Vernooij, director of FourIQ, ratified this cooperation. HBI and FourIQ are both partners of the Sqippa Community.

In the Sqippa Community, manufacturers, service providers and building owners work together to better align products and services. Driven by the conviction that we can only move forward together. For sustainable building management. For Smart Buildings. That is Sqippa's mission.
