A new Sqippa partner: sensor manufacturer Thermokon
Thermokon manufactures sensors. And sensors are essential for Sqippa. Then the link is quickly made and a new partnership emerges.
The product sensor is the solution for an application
Thermokon Sensortechnik GmbH was founded 35 years ago by Harald Zygan in Germany and now has its own subsidiaries in the Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, Sweden, Italy, France, Finland, Poland, Spain, China and Hong Kong. By developing innovative sensor solutions for building automation, the company today generates sales of more than 45 million euros.
Thermokon is a manufacturer of sensors for building automation. Its sensors can be found in products of other companies. Especially in products that measure temperature, pressure differences, CO2 and humidity.
Thermokon's main customer group consists of original equipment manufacturer (OEM) companies, system integrators and controller manufacturers such as Siemens, Johnson Controls and Honeywell. Thermokon also supplies E and W installers and developers of building management systems.
Marcel Offermans, sales and account manager at Thermokon, describes sensors as the hardware or product that provides the solution in third-party applications. And that is what Thermokon offers: solutions by listening carefully to the customer and responding to their needs.
Thermokon produces more than 95% of its sensors itself. And gets many services, work and products from the region.
Sqippa provides security and comfort
On LinkedIn, Marcel came across information about Sqippa and soon contact was made with Fons Bisscheroux. Fons is the initiator of Sqippa.
According to Marcel, management systems like Sqippa are very important.
"A management system gives certainty about the facilities in a building. It ensures a comfortable environment. And it helps save costs by managing energy consumption, among other things."
There are several platforms on the market. But Sqippa stands out for its open nature, as it uses the world standard LoRaWAN This allows basically all facilities in a building to run on the platform. This creates an overall picture of the functioning of a building.
Another important reason for Thermokon to become a Sqippa partner is the combination of the platform and the community.
"It's not just about technology. People also need information, knowledge. About the possibilities and about what can be done with information and IoT".
The Sqippa community and platform: a unique combination
Marcel calls the combination between platform and community unique. He sees great value in sharing knowledge between manufacturers, building owners and operators.
The community is all about give and take. Thermokon can get a lot of value from the cooperation. And at the same time, it has a lot of experience and knowledge it wants to share.
"We can very clearly demonstrate and therefore explain what Sqippa does. What you can do with measured values and why information is so important. And how combining data provides even more useful information."
This insight and understanding is needed to further develop smart building management. And the community is a very good platform for that.
The future has already begun
IoT solutions like Sqippa prevent problems and are therefore cost-saving. This path of smart building management has already begun, according to Marcel. But in the future, this will become much more sophisticated.
"Predicting behaviour and therefore preventing problems is still at the beginning. It doesn't stop at a notification for maintenance. Everything will soon also be set in motion to carry this out as efficiently as possible. In the future, really all disciplines will come together."
The current mindset and habits can be inhibiting. Not everyone is ready for change. And this is why the community is so important for Sqippa's future.
"The community can educate. Constantly point out the benefits of data and collaboration. Show what can be done with it and, above all, answer the question 'What's in it for me'."
